Day 33 (26 May, Return and begin)

Heavy rain, thunder last night. Quiet rest, but little sleep. One pesky mosquito (who trains the pesky into them?).

Feet nearly unusable, but I believe they are healing. At 3:30, I could barely get to the aseo, so I decided to treat my blisters. Blisters on blisters – thought that was a cliche. Drained them in the dry tub, then washed feet gently and fully. Antibiotic ointment on pealed skin, furious rash.

Sleep again, partly, til my alarm. Lightning and downpour reminded me to be prepared for wet walk to taxi stand. The loft I chose was well located and very comfortable, and that reminded my gratitude.

Airport lights in predawn darkness attract Perrigrino moths, now searching for return. We are already respectfully distant compared to walking. We smile or meet eyes with few words, more understanding, less curiosity.  Quiet as those mornings we departed Albergues while others feigned sleep. This solemn and necessary part of the Camino is also good.
