Day of mistakes.
South facing ears burn without sunscreen.
Low socks and high boots may be benign for an hour, but blisters form well before 40 km.
For the record, 40+ km is a mistake, even if you can.
And getting lost during the last 2 hours is also mistaken.
Care for your feet; or the combination of pain and damp numbness is exquisite.
And choosing the shower with ONLY cold water may be therapeutic, but not a rational choice – healing mistake.

Dinner in Espinosa the night before was pleasant. Nicole and Adrian (Swiss siblings), Josephine (South Korea), Mr. J.B. Park (South Korea), and Roy (U.K). Early rise, early start, with me thirty minutes behind.
Made it from Espinosa to Burgos, in 10 walking hours, two heel blisters, and one screaming fourth toe.

Great morning stride. Fell in step with Josephine from S.Korea during mid day hours. The hills were mostly pleasant. Reviewing in Korean the small vocabulary I have was fun. Then I found a good afternoon pace and hiked on.
The afternoon provided my first extended hours where body and mind walked together. Mostly, walking engages the body in breath and step while the mind seems to wonder freely. Active thinking. Not this day.
All of me was walking.
All of me walking began to slow with fatigue. Then all of me walking listened to the harsh voice of angry feet in boots.

In Burgos, Michael and Mary and Deborah had arrived (by bus, due to time and injury). Terrific dinner with them, Mr. Park, and Roy. Nice high-rise Albergue, in old Burgos. Good sleep.
